A brass plaque in St Maurice's Church, Eglingham, Northumberland, commemorates Captain Oswald Carr of the Royal Artillery, who died at Ruakituri on 8 August 1868, during the early pursuit of Te Kooti. The plaque records that the church tower's parapet and roof were restored in his memory, funded by his parents from his accrued military pay.
